About Arigato
Arigato is a free online gift registry. You add gifts from any shop by pasting a link, share one page with everyone you have invited, and the registry keeps track of what has already been claimed so nothing arrives twice. Guests never need an account, and we never handle the money — every gift is bought at the shop, on the shop's own site, with the shop's own returns policy behind it.
Who is behind it
Arigato is a small independent product built and run in Australia. It is not owned by a retailer, a department store or a marketplace, which matters for the gift guides: no shop has a commercial claim on what we recommend, because no shop has a stake in us.
Guides are published under the Arigato editorial team, which is the small group of people who build and write for the product. We publish under a team name rather than inventing individual personas with fake credentials — a practice common enough in this category that it is worth stating we do not do it.
What we actually know about gifts
Our experience is with what happens to a gift list, not with product testing. Building a registry means seeing which gifts get claimed immediately and which sit untouched until the week before an event, which price bands guests are comfortable with, what gets bought twice when a list is spread across three shops, and what gets quietly returned. That is the expertise behind these guides, and it is a real one.
What we do not have is a testing lab. We have not put fifteen stand mixers through a year of use, and we do not say we have. Where a guide leans on durability or performance, it leans on the shop's own review data, the manufacturer's specifications, and consensus from publications that do test — all of which we say in the guide itself.
How a free registry pays for itself
There is no fee to make a registry, no fee for guests, no premium tier and no cut of any gift. When a guest buys through one of our links, some shops pay us a small commission for sending the customer. It never changes the price anyone pays. That is the entire business model, and it is described in full in our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections and contact
If a guide recommends something that has been discontinued, changed for the worse, or was wrong in the first place, tell us and we will fix it or pull it. Email hello@arigato.io. Corrections to a published guide are made in the article itself, and the "Checked" date at the top moves only when a person has actually re-checked the recommendations.
