Privacy
If you make a registry
We store your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google. We never store a password, because Arigato does not use them: you sign in with a one time link or with Google.
If you give a gift
You do not need an account. If you fill them in, we store the name, email and message you typed on the claim form, so the person can thank you. Leave them blank, or tick "keep my name private", and we will not show your name to anyone.
When you click through to a shop
We record that a gift was clicked, so the registry owner can see interest and so we can tell a bought gift from a promised one. We store a one way hash of your IP address and browser, never the address itself. We cannot reverse it to identify you.
If you forward a receipt
Forwarding an order confirmation is entirely optional. If you do, we read the retailer, order date, item and total to match it to a gift, and we keep a copy of the message. We do not read anything else in your inbox and we have no access to it. Ask us and we will delete a forwarded receipt.
Who else sees your data
Arigato runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the site and stores the database. When a guest follows a link to a shop, that shop sees the visit, as it would for any visitor, and may know it came from us. We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not share registry contents with advertisers.
Cookies
One cookie, set only when you sign in, which keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. Guests browsing a registry are not given a cookie at all.
Getting your data back or removing it
Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, and we will. Deleting a registry removes its gifts and claims.
